A Tank! Report

It was decided, in the darkest hours of the night, that two titans would do battle. nb, the team with the most sound and tactically minded players in dystopia vs. Tank!, the team with an assortment of berserkers, fish, wasps and robots that only have two functions: firing lasers and speaking with broken syllables. The map was cybernetic, the battleground was set... but there was a problem, joker, Tank!'s very own warping tank was in a hurry- he had university in 1 hour!?!!!

All was not quiet on the ventrillo front- John, our robot, was inputing calculations and telling us in broken syllables what he wanted us to do, Bitey was saying what he usually says in warm-up time, "Stripped. Stripped. Stripped Bitch. Wooooooooooooo", after a time, this writer was so affected by Bitey's sayings that he dreamt of Stripping Dystopians the rest of the night. Kinky. Nord was once again told, questioned and questioned multiple times by our Robot, on whether or not he could control cyberspace: It was a very circular discussion, mainly because our Robot could not compute the myriad of people talking on vent ~ 'Yo-u Ca-n.' 'I can' 'Yo-u Ca-n.' '...I can.' We really do need to upgrade his CPU. Next off was Savior 'el Fish''el Tornado' ><> Tank! To be honest, I can't exactly remember what he talked about because he just talks alot! Half of it was trolling (maybe) the next might have been, 'I want tesla or I wank Mk'. For myself, I was asking, 'So Mk and Tac first, because the Ion wouldn't be all that effective', (Notice I am the most cognitive Grin). That was the general jist of vent, pre-game, during the match it was quite different.

ON ATTACK:

We spawned with our main perogative being to secure cyberspace, thus, we had 2 Decks, 2 Tacs and one with thermal (me) just in case nb chose to have a stealthed LR in the form of Wildman. The first tactic is always to strip. By our first rush we didn't kill any nb members, but left most of them at 50% hp, except for axeto. The reason for this was because we focused our push to the walkway or the right hand side of the map- mainly because from there we have access to the walkway and height advantage: 4 Tanks usually assault the right with 1 Tank (Bitey) coming from the opposite side. Using this tactic we secured 1st in 4 minutes or so.

On Second, we changed our format to 3-4 Decks with 1 Tac still all medium. Say tactic, strip as much first, then as fresh Tank!'s respawn, kill them off quickly in a consecutive chain. On vent our Robot and Nord were talking about how well they controlled the cyberspace fights, the main mistake we made here was we didn't hold down our defense well enough to allow for our deckers to cap the objective faster. We capped 2nd at 8 mins. From 1st and 2nd we tended to dominate nb in meatspace.

On Third, savior changed to Tesla from Mk and we picked up 3 decks and 2 tacs. Bitey tried an attack from the ventilation system but it didn't work out so well. Our most successful push was quite lucky on my part. Axeto, Wildman and reach I think were defending near the large glass door, I came around them via the door access side and primed a nade which managed to hit axeto, reach and wild were fending off Savior I think. I killed axeto without receiving too much damage and proceeded to katana and mp wild and use the rest of my bullets on reach before he killed me. By then the rest of Tank! took up position and capped the objective. One benefit I should note that I spawned just after the cap, so this means I was able to attack 3 nb members with relative impunity (to prevent them holding a choke point) whilst receiving minimal damage. We capped at about 11-12 mins.

On Fourth, after an unsuccessful medium rush, I decided to go heavy and I chose to attack via the door access. This proved to be very successful and a repeat of this tactic saw our victory at 14:55 mins.

ON DEFENSE:

(I'll be brief here- mentioning our weaknesses)

Our defense of first was decent, albeit we lacked meat control and were very lucky that Nord got off a brilliant tesla that killed half of the nb team. Most of our voice communication was related to: who was stripped, who was killed and who had priority over suicides. I think we held 1st for about 6-8 mins.

Our 2nd was horrendous, we couldn't control cyberspace well enough and nb managed to penetrate our defenses very easily. Our voice communication was lacking here with not enough calls* to the decker at the middle jip to jack out, for my part, I was unsure of which decker was staying at the base and which was at middle (normally when we talk on vent we use eachother's names- so as to keep it personal and its better to acknowledge who you are talking to anyway). We lost this at maybe the 9-10 min mark, it was quite sloppy on our part.

Our 3rd defense was alot better, but I made a few errors in my positioning. I chose to go to Ion after the first spawn and immediately resumed my mking role which was stripping and killing, and, whilst I killed 3 nb on my first spawn it left me stripped and extremely vulnerable. Bitey told me to stay inside the jip room (this tactic is questionable, its closed off and not very manuverable- the room generally doesn't work well with my ping or playstyle). nb quickly took up this opportunity because I wasn't roaming anymore and due to a misplaced shot and lack of manuverability we lost control of the jip room. At this same time, we had failed to keep cyberspace secure so it was a rush to reach the objective area- I managed to reach there first, killing 2 nb along the way and managing a shot on wildman who was decking. However, nb still managed to cap.

Our defense on fourth was much better, we maintained cyberspace control and opened the door access- which allowed for me to manuvere around nb as they transported the hostage and ambush them, in general we controlled this area of meatspace well, with only Nord's mistimed suicide a setback. We held till the end of the match.

Things to note:

-We constantly mentioned who was stripped, who was killed
-We constantly rotated deckers and weapons
-We allow for what is comfortable for our players to take place i.e. joker doing his thing, Bitey stripping and slaying, Savior going berserk on everyone (all at separate occasions).
-Encouraged powerplay (enticing our players to fight and win e.g. during our attack on thrid Nord was screaming on the mic, 'GOGOGOGOGOO joker!')

Thanks for reading, I hope I covered everything nicely enough (from my perspective :S).
